11th Annual Family Caregiver Program

Health & Awareness kidney disease prevention program is a non-profit organization, that offer's a source of unbiased and comprehensive resource information to educate and pay tribute to those that help others, whose service often goes unnoticed.

Family Caregivers are the unsung heroes of today. Family Caregivers support the people we all love. Family Caregivers take on a variety of roles as providing this care can come in all forms. From taking mom to the doctor’s office, to managing medications, to the total care of a loved one. The founder of H&A experienced firsthand that family caregiver’s personal health and overall well-being can be greatly affected by the physical and emotional strain of caregiving, and most family caregivers are reluctant to ask for help.

H&A honor this family-friendly awards program to pay tribute to those who doesn't hesitate to give baths, clean houses, shop for, run errands and comfort individuals after surgery, manage health emergencies, and suffer isolation during the pandemic.

Since caregiving can be one of the most difficult jobs for anyone with around-the-clock care, little rest, possibly stressful, emotional situations, and oftentimes inadequate compensation, President Obama declared November as National Family Caregiver Month in 2013. Since its inception, the mission of National Caregiver Month has been to raise awareness for caregivers and to improve their overall life and well-being.

Even the most loving and patient caregivers will become tired and need to recharge in order to avoid emotional or psychological burnout as a result of stress and overwork. This is why we make it a point to set a side this date to pay tribute to family caregivers.

In additional to celebration of Family Caregivers, H&A due our part to bring information, resources and the modern technology to family caregivers to help make their difficult job easy.

Family Caregiver make a world of difference for everyone.

Here’s what I’d like to see:

  • A big parade featuring caregivers on Pacific Avenue
  • A huge rally in support of pro-caregiver legislation on the National Mall in Washington DC
  • Restaurants through Hampton Roads offering discounts to family caregivers
  • Members of the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL wearing colored equipment that draws attention to family caregivers

While none of this is likely to happen, or is it?

I do think if volunteers join with H&A, we can have a month celebration to draw attention to family caregivers and their worth.

For now, H&A offer a program for selected family caregivers with the support of sponsors and donors that include gifts, information, entertainment in a relaxing atmosphere.

A donation of each of the family caregivers guess is required.  This is a family event, everyone is welcome.
